City BOE hires, makes transfers for ‘19-’20 year

The Andalusia Board of Education on Monday accepted resignations and begin the process of transferring and hiring to fill jobs for the 2019-2020 school year.

The board accepted the resignations of:

• Auburn Carrier, AES, OSR (Pre-K) lead teacher.

• Melissa Middlebrooks, science teacher at Andalusia Junior High School.

• Amanda Hutto, fourth grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary School.

• Amy Norris, special education paraprofessional at Andalusia Elementary School.

• Jessica Craig, special ed paraprofessional at Andalusia Elementary School.

• Jody Adams, special education teacher at Andalusia High School.

• Cynthia McLeod, special education teacher at Andalusia High School.

The board granted tenure to:

• Magen Alexander, fifth grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Ragan Harwell, fourth grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Melissa Powell, fourth grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Natalie Mims, fourth grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Jeanne Morgan, kindergarten teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Megan Pugh, first grade teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Aubri Morgan, science teacher at Andalusia High School.

• Jarret Williamson, science teacher at Andalusia High School.

The board also:

• Moved Jenifer Earnest from 8th grade English teacher to director of federal programs and professional development.

• Moved Jill Bryant from AES second grade teacher to Pre-K enrichment teacher at the Woodson Learning Center.

• Moved Amber Clark from third grade teacher to OSR (Pre-K) teacher at Andalusia Elementary.

• Moved Brittany Woodall from Andalusia Elementary OSR (Pre-K) teacher to elementary teacher.

• Moved Leigh Anne O’Neal from pre-K paraprofessional to OSR (Pre-K) lead teacher.

• Moved Emily Smith from special ed paraprofessional to Pre-K paraprofessional at the Woodson Learning Center.

The board hired:

• Kim Killough, AES special education paraprofessional.

• Brianna Rudolph, AES physical education teacher.

• Casey Althern, AES special education paraprofessional.

• Breanna Warren, AJHS special education paraprofessional.

• Sherry Piggot, AES pre-K auxiliary teacher.

The board non-renewed the contract of Randle Baker, Andalusia Elementary custodian.

The board agreed to hire Greg Watts Construction to sealcoat and stripe the stadium parking lot at AHS; at a cost of $4,500; to sealcoat a section at the bus shop outside of the construction area at a cost of $1,500; and to seal coat and re-stripe the roadway and east parking lots at AHS at a cost of $8,500.
