The American Legion is celebrating its 100th anniversary nationwide, and the Andalusia American Legion Post 80 is planning to celebrate with food and fun.
James Grissett with Post 80 said that this is a huge celebration.
“There are posts all over the nation celebrating this anniversary,” Grissett said. “We figured we might as well join in on the fun.”
There is no cost to attend, but the Post will be selling food and drinks to raise money for veterans.
“None of our money goes to the post,” Grissett said. “Everything that we raise goes back to the community or to veterans.”
The proceeds will go to veterans and scholarships for Covington County Schools, Boys State and Girls State.
There will be activities, raffles and a live band.
The celebration will be Sat., June 8, from 10 a.m., until 3 p.m., at the Andalusia American Legion.
