The Mizell Memorial Hospital Foundation’s first annual Mizell Family Fun Fest is today from 10 a.m., until 4 p.m.

Board member Melinda Hall said that a part from their annual gala, they needed another fundraiser.

“We do the gala every year,” Hall said. “But we decided that we needed to have a fundraiser that was a little more family oriented so we came up with this.”

All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the hospital in some fashion.

“Basically the foundation will hold the funds from the fundraiser,” Hall said. “And then whatever the hospital needs, the funds will be passed on to the hospital, so basically every dollar raised will go to the hospital.”

Hall said that they decided on doing a funfest because they wanted to get the entire community involved.

“This will be completely family oriented,” Hall said. “The kids and the entire family can come out. We tried to keep the cost low so everyone can come and enjoy the day.”

Organizers were up early Friday gearing up for the day today, Hall said.

“Everything is so well organized,” Hall said. “The foundation has done a great job getting everything planned and getting everything in the stadium ready for the day.”

The live entertainment at the funfest will be the LBW Ensemble, Riley and Lorren Shaffer, the Three Notch Band and Daniel Mock.

“I think I am most excited about the live music,” Hall said. “I am excited to hear all of these folks sing.”

Along with live entertainment, the funfest will have bounce houses, slides, kids’ health screenings, fire department firehouse, rock climbing wall and an Opp Police Department kid I.D. kit.

“The $5 armband has all of that included,” Hall said. “We will also have things that families can pay a little extra for like a photo booth, face painting, arts and crafts vendors, food and shaved ice.”

The Mizell Family Fun Fest will be today from 10 a.m., until 4 p.m., at the Channel- Lee Stadium in Opp.
