Andalusia High School alumnus Steadman Glenn started working at Barton Sports and Design a year ago because he loves working with people.
Glenn got the job while he was in high school, and started working after he finished the baseball season.
“My Aunt Andrea told me that her cousin was opening the store,” Glenn said. “So, I told her to mention to him that I would like to work there. A week or two went by and I got a call from him and Ethan Wilson and I started working there after the baseball season.”
He said that he especially wanted to work at Barton’s because it has a small town feel to it.
“I didn’t really want to work in a chain type of store,” Glenn said. “This store has that hometown feeling to it and it’s all about sports so it was a perfect fit.”
The best part of his job is the people.
“I love to make interactions with people and talk with them,” Glenn said. “I just help them find what they want and get them what they need. It is really cool to sit down with them when they are designing a shirt and get them what they need.”
Glenn was apart of the LBW Community College Ensemble last year, but he said that juggling his schedule was pretty easy.
“Aaron Barton does a great job at being flexible with my schedule,” Glenn said. “During the school year, I had a fixed schedule because I went to class from 8 a.m., until noon and had ensemble from 1 p.m., until 3 p.m., then work from 3 p.m., until 6 p.m. It was a perfect set up. Now, during the summer, I get more hours because I don’t have class.”
For students that are looking for a summer gig, Glenn said that this job is the perfect place.
“It is an absolutely great job,” Glenn said. “Especially if you love sports. I get to meet people through the store and have the opportunity to be a role model for the kids that come it. It is a good feeling to work here.”
Glenn is currently enrolled at LBW Community College, where he is studying marketing and sales.
