Employees at the Opp Housing Authority are now certified to perform CPR for two years.

Director Beverly Barber said that she wanted her employees and volunteers to be prepared for the unforeseen.

“These employees are always in and out of residents apartments,” Barber said. “We just want them to be prepared if there is an unforeseen situation.”

Eight employees and volunteers were trained to give CPR to an adult and a child.

“I think that all of them really enjoyed the training,” Barber said. “I think that they learned a lot.”

This is the first time that the housing authority has provided training like this to its employees and volunteers.

“I wanted to make sure that the entire staff along with the volunteers were trained in this,” Barber said. “You can never be too safe when it comes to our residents.”

The Opp Fire Department conducted the training.
