South All-Stars sweep North

The South All-Star baseball team swept the North All-Stars on Tuesday at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery during 2019 AHSAA All-Star week.
Andalusia’s Jacob Cravey had a big day for the South All-Stars.
Cravey is the third straight Andalusia player to play in the North/South All-Star baseball game. (Ethan Wilson in 2017 and Hogan Nichols in 2018)
GAME ONE
SOUTH 16, NORTH 7
In the first game of the day, the South All-Stars came out charging and held on for a 16-7 win.
Cravey pitched a strong pair of innings to close out the game for the South All-Stars.
The North All-Stars spoiled the South’s no hit bid off Cravey, but Cravey was able to strike out five batters to help the South All-Stars come away with a win.
Mobile Christian’s Chance Vaught tossed two hitless innings in relief to pick up the win.
The North All-Stars got a big day from Westbrook Christian’s Andrew Dutton.
Dutton doubled and drove in a run for the North All-Stars.
GAME TWO
SOUTH 18, NORTH 16
The South All-Stars rallied late to win the game two 18-16 to finish off the sweep.
The North All-Stars took an early 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, the South All-Stars broke through with six runs to take a 6-1 lead.
The North All-Stars went up 10-7 in the top of the fourth.
The South All-Stars scratched back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 10-9.
In the top of the sixth inning, the North All-Stars stretched out their lead to 14-9.
The South All-Stars put together a strong bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead.
With nine runs plated in the frame, the South All-Stars went on top 18-l4.
In the top of the seventh inning, the North All-Stars kept things interesting as they continued to battle.
The North All-Stars plated two runs, but the South All-Stars were able to hold on for an 18-16 win.
Cravey finished the game 1-for-2 with one walk and two runs scored.
Dutton was named North MVP.
Benjamin Russell’s Brett Pitts was named South MVP.
The North All-Stars hold a 23-14-1 record over the South All-Stars.
