Local woman found dead in Brewton Wal-Mart parking lot

The Brewton Police Department was dispatched to Wal-Mart on Wed., July 12, at about 6 p.m. because a body was found inside a vehicle parked in front of the Garden Center.

The Brewton Police Department’s Public Information Officer Heath Madison said emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the person deceased. Madison confirmed that no foul play is suspected at this time. The deceased’s next of kin has been notified, and the body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. Madison said that an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death will be performed there.

“At this time, the case is still under investigation pending the official cause of death by the Department of Forensic Sciences,” Madison said.

Madison confirmed on Thursday that the deceased female discovered at Wal-Mart is 38-year-old Jamie Lynn Brownlee. Brownlee is from the Rome road community of Andalusia.

“The case is still under investigation by the Department of Forensic Sciences and an official cause of death has not been released,” Madison said.
