Grocery Pick-up coming to Andalusia Wal-Mart

Soon, Covington County residents will not have to get out of their cars to grocery shop, thanks to Wal-Mart’s online grocery pickup.

Manager Ben Farr said that training is underway at the Andalusia Wal-Mart.

“We are already doing training orders,” Farr said. “Just so we can make sure that we get everything done in a timely manner. We are also looking at our produce for freshness so we can provide the best product available. We want to have our customer’s confidence that we can do their shopping for them.”

Farr said that everything will be done through the Wal-Mart grocery app or online at walmart.com/grocery.

“First, it will ask you to select a store,” Farr said. “Once our store goes live on Sept. 3, it will show up in the app. Then you select the day that you wish to pick up your groceries and a time slot. Then you just create your shopping list and the substitutes for items that we don’t have. When your time slot arrives, an associate will go shop for your items and get it ready for you. You can either use the check-in part of the app and we will know which parking spot you are in, or when you get here, you can call the number on the sign and let us know that you are here and what parking spot you are in. We will bring out your groceries to you and go over any substitutes if there are any. Once we do that, then we will put all the groceries in your car.”

Payment for the groceries will be done online, as well, or can be done inside.

“They will ask you for your credit or debit information online or on the app,” Farr said. “Or you can use EBT, which will give you the option to pay inside. All transactions will go through once you accept all items.”

Farr said the community is ready for this new option of shopping.

“Several people that I have talked to say they are very excited for it,” Farr said. “I think they are just ready for it to be available.”

Wal-Mart grocery pickup will be available in Andalusia starting September 3.
