The suspect in a shooting that occurred earlier this month in Andalusia is in custody and charged with attempted murder. The victim has died.

Chief Paul Hudson said Daimeion Rashawn Logan, 30, turned himself into the Covington County Jail early Tuesday morning, and remains in custody.

Local officers had a warrant for Logan’s arrest for attempted murder following a shooting on Aug. 1.

Hudson said additional charges may be filed against Logan. The victim, Joseph Deason, 32, of Covington County, died Tuesday morning. He was treated locally and airlifted to a regional trauma center where he underwent extensive surgery for his injuries. He had remained in the hospital since the shooting.

Hudson said the local department is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine possible additional charges against Logan.

The APD was assisted in its initial investigation by the Covington County Sheriff’s Department, the Covington County District Attorney’s office, Advanced EMS, the Drug Task Force, and the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force.
