Covington County residents have another place to get their hair looking right thanks to Andalusia High School alumna Breanna Dixon opening Breanna’s Barbering and Style.

Dixon always knew that she wanted to open her own business one day.

“I have always had interest in doing hair and I knew I wanted to open my own business,” Dixon said. “At first I was kind of scared, because I knew that it would be a big risk with me only being 22, but I was willing to take the big risk. I had to have a lot of faith and just go for it.”

During her time in college at MacArthur, Dixon worked at Utopia Salon.

When she started getting ready to open Breanna’s Barbering and Style, she said it wasn’t stressful as much as it was nerve-wracking.

“There was just a lot going on,” Dixon said. “I had a lot at stake, but I wouldn’t say it was stressful.”

Once her dream finally became a reality, Dixon said she was full of excitement.

“I just finally accomplished the goal that I set for years,” Dixon said. “It felt like I was living in a dream. It didn’t feel like it was real.”

Dixon plans to provide haircuts, waxing, coloring, styling, perms and formal hair styling.

She said she is looking forward to getting to work the most.

“I am getting married in October and he works offshore,” Dixon said. “So, I am really excited to just get this business started. I am ready to become a successful business owner and help out the community.”

Being born and reared in Covington County, Dixon said she is excited to serve the community that has always supported her.

“The community has been very supportive through the entire process,” Dixon said. “All of my clientele were really the ones pushing me to open this business. So, between them and my family it has been amazing.”

Breanna’s Barbershop and Style will be open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m., until 5 p.m., and some Saturdays by appointment. It is located at 19597 Hidden Cove Road in Andalusia.
