The cross-country trail at the Covington County Schools track facility is nearing completion.

Covington County Schools Superintendent said that barring any weather delays, the trail should be completed in the next few weeks.

“We have done a lot of work over the least couple of weeks,” he said. “When we get it completed, I’m going to announce that it will be open for the public. It’s exciting for those who like to run, walk or jog.”

The 5,000 meter cross country course is designed to begin and end in the stadium.

The track is located at the county’s 109 acres off of Hwy. 55, and is within 20 to 22 minutes from each of the county’s four high schools.
