Andalusia High School junior officers Rosemary Bass and Bay Merrell came up with a new way to raise money for their class.

In the past, the group has raised money by selling magazines, but the girls said they wanted a way to show school spirit through fundraising.

This year, the junior class will place 10 AHS yard signs in a persons yard and that person will have to pay a minimum of $15 to remove the signs. Once they pay the donation, they get to choose whose house gets the next 10 signs.

“We figured this would be a good way of providing a community outreach instead of selling magazines,” Bass said. “We get to represent schools by doing this as well.”

Merrell said the idea is a spin-off of putting flamingo yard signs in people’s yards.

“It has been fun working together,” Merrell said. “We really enjoy doing stuff as officers.”

All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the AHS junior class for prom, homecoming and other school debts.

For people that would like to send a donation, they can send a check made out AHS Junior Class of 2021 to the high school.
