Election information for the 2020 elections

With election year coming up, here is some information that every voter needs to know.

The primary election is scheduled for March 3, 2020.

Feb. 14 is the last day to hand-deliver voter registration forms. Feb. 15 is the last day to postmark voter registration forms. Feb. 17 is the voter registration deadline and the last day for online voter registration. Feb. 27 is the last day for a voter to make an application for an absentee ballot. March 2 is the last day for a voter to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot.

The primary runoff election, if necessary is scheduled for March 31, 2020.

March 16 is the voter registration deadline. March 26 is the last day for voters to make an application for an absentee ballot. March 30 is the last day for a voter to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot.

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2020.

Oct. 19 is the voter registration deadline. Oct. 29 is the last day for a voter to make an application for an absentee ballot. Nov. 2 is the last day for a voter to hand-deliver or postmark an absentee ballot.

If you vote in the Democratic primary election, you may only vote in the Democratic runoff election. You may not cross over and vote in the Republican runoff election.

If you did not vote in a Primary election, you may choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot in a runoff election.

Candidates seeking nomination by a party primary must file declaration of candidacy with state party chairman (if seeking federal, state, circuit, district, or legislative office) or county party chairman (if seeking county office) no later than Fri., Nov. 8, 2019, by 5:00 PM; 116 days before the election.
