A Red Level man is was arrested yesterday for having sexual contact and intercourse with a five-year-old female, seven-year-old female and an eight-year-old male.

On Oct. 2, 2019, at 3 p.m., investigator Cody Holmes and captain Mike Irwin made the case and arrested Benjamin Duane Jones, 57, of Red Level.

Through the cooperation of the victims, and the Child Advocacy Center, forensic interviews of the victims were conducted.

The charges that he has earned are sexual abuse of a child less than 12 Years old and first-degree sodomy to wit: Jones, age 57, intentionally had sexual contact with a five-year-old female, a seven-year-old female and an eight-year-old male.

Jones also engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with both females, ages 5 and 7. These offenses violate Alabama criminal code (13A-6-69.1) and 13A-6-63. Both offenses did occur in Covington County.

Alabama Code 13A-6-69.1. Sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old. (a) A person commits the crime of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old if he or she, being 16 years old or older, subjects another person who is less than 12 years old to sexual contact.

AL Code § 13A-6-66 (2012): Sexual abuse in the first degree. (2) He subjects another person to sexual contact who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.

Jones is being held on a $500,000 bond.

“I am very proud of our Investigators,” Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman said. “They went the extra mile and got a true pedophile put away. Pedophilia is sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children, a true scourge of our community. I pray the children and family involved makes a full recovery and can live a normal life.”
