The Andalusia High School Band a Sound Tradition will host its annual A-Town band competition this Sat., Oct. 5, for the first time in the new stadium.

Cara Russell one of the organizers with the AHS Band Boosters said they are working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly.

“This year we decided to open all four gates to the stadium for everyone’s convenience,” Russell said. “The main parking lot gate will be open, but the bands will be coming down the right side of the stairs. So, if you walk park in the main parking lot, make sure you walk down the left side of the stairs just so you won’t get in the way of the bands. Anyone parking in the stadium parking lot will have the stadium parking lot gate open for you, everyone parking on near the visitor’s gate that will also be open and anyone parking by the junior high, the gate in between the softball field and the indoor facility will be open for you.”

With the new seats in the grandstand, Russell said they are providing reserved seating for the first time ever.

“The reserved seats will be $15 and will last for the entire day,” Russell said. “They will be available at the gate when you walk in, or today at the high school until 2 p.m. We ask that if you want to be seated next to a particular person then you need to come get your tickets with them because they are numbered for a particular seat.”

The band competition will also have all concessions stands open during the event.

“We are going to have the main concession stand open, but we are also going to have a small tent area to the left of the main concession stand for people to stop by and get cold drinks or something to eat,” Russell said. “There will also be a concession stand open by the stadium parking lot gate and the visitor’s concession stand will be open.”

26 bands are scheduled for this year’s competition including four 5A bands that will perform at the end of the night.

Gates open at 11 a.m., and admission is $6.
