It was a battle of Wildcats Friday night as Florala traveled to Washington County to take on Millry.

Millry defeated Florala 48-18 in the first round of the AHSAA 1A state playoffs, ending the Wildcats’ season.

Despite the loss, Florala went 7-4 this season, finishing third in 1A, Region 2.

The Wildcats’ only losses came from Cottage Hill, Brantley, Elba and Millry.

Florala High School coach Toby Greene said Quarterback Logan West did a great job running the ball, as he has all season.

Cleveland Gettis had a turnover recovery for the Wildcats and Z. Reese ran the ball well and had a great game on the defensive side.

“I’m proud of the way our kids played,” Greene said. “We actually out scored them in the second half. They showed a lot of grit by coming back and staying in the game.”

While the season may have come to an end, it’s the best season the Wildcats have had since 2007 and Greene said he’s proud of his players and the season they had.
