After leaving the Yellow Ducky Laundromat, Donna Johnson decided it was time to start her own laundry service to serve the community of Covington County.

Johnson started Quality Laundry Service from her own home and said it was the best-kept secret in Andalusia.

“I started at the Yellow Ducky in December 2016,” Johnson said. “I relocated as of April of this year to my home in Sanford. I just felt like there was a need for this service in the community. I am basically a pick up and delivery laundry service.”

So far, Johnson works the Andalusia, Opp, Heath and Gantt areas.

“You could always go to a Laundromat yourself,” Johnson said. “But I have pickup and delivery available. I do ironing and minor alterations. Nobody really likes to iron, so I do women’s and men’s shirts, starched how they like it.”

Johnson got into the laundry business because she saw the need for it in the community.

“I wanted to start my own business,” Johnson said. “Since I have been in Andalusia since 2006, I saw the need for a business that had pick up and delivery laundry services, because who wants to spend their Saturday or Sunday afternoon at the Laundromat?”

Since leaving the Yellow Ducky, Johnson said she has no regrets.

“I have had a very good response, so far,” Johnson said. “I was able to retain about 75 percent of my customers from there and I just knew it was time to part ways with the Yellow Ducky.”

Quality Laundry Service is open 9 a.m., until 5 p.m., six days a week and costs $1 per pound with a minimum of 10 pounds.
