Covington County Schools will soon take bids for a replacement roof at Pleasant Home School.

Superintendent Shannon Driver said this project would replace the flat roofs on the old, original two wings at PHS.

It will include a long hallway and the old office area.

“We will put a metal roof on with build-up trusses,” he said. “They are in really bad shape and it leaks a lot.”

Additionally, Driver said another component of the project will be fixing a gutter system to help with drainage, which allows water to be dispersed behind the school.

Driver said that this project will fix all of the flat roof issues at PHS.

Next on the list, he said, is fixing the ailing roofs at Red Level and then Straughn.

“That will allow us to eliminate all the flat roofs,” he said. “It’s hard to know how much it will cost.”

Driver said that they will begin the search for bids this week and will have them back in time for the Feb. 11 board meeting.
