When the Florala Wildcats take the field next fall, they’ll do so under the bright lights.
The Covington County Board of Education agreed to seek bids for new stadium lights at Matthews Stadium Tuesday night.
“The lights in Florala are terrible, really in dangerous condition,” Superintendent Shannon Driver told board members.
Driver has met with engineers and plans have been made and modified to fit the needs of the school.
“We are also going to bid it for an alt for LED and compare the price,” he said. “The price has really came down his we built the track complex.”
The warranty is 10 years longer on LED lights, he said.
Florala High School football coach Toby Greene they were much appreciate of Driver and the board of education.
“We are excited,” he said. “This will give our fans a much better experience and we are grateful to the board and Mr. Driver for doing this for us.”
Bids are expected to be advertised this week and the board is expected to make a decision at its Feb. 11 board meeting.
