Local runners wanting to become “fit for the king” can sign up for a Saturday morning program beginning this Saturday.
Organizer Don Cotton said the Fit for the King program is a 12-week class that begins at 7:30 a.m.
“It’s a spiritual-based couch to 5K program,” he said. “It’s open to all ages. I first participated four years ago when I was 59. I have participated in several 5K events and continue to run regularly for exercise.”
Cotton said those who take part in this class will participate in the Smiles for Megan 5K run on May 2.
“Students will learn about safety, proper running gear, diets and other valuable information,” he said. “Each Saturday, a local runner will share their experience. Make friends from all walks of life.”
Cotton said long-distance runners and walkers are welcome to join.
“Go from zero to 5K in 12 weeks,” he said.
Registration will be at 7:30 a.m., Saturday morning at the First Baptist Church student building.
