9,555 turnout for primaries
Turnout for yesterday’s primary election was 34.9 percent.
There are 27,353 registered voters in Covington County.
Of those 9,555 turned out to cast their ballots.
Some 1,301 voters cast Democrat ballots and 8,248 cast Republican ballots.
Additionally, Covington County voted 6,815 to 1,847 against Amendment One to abolish the Stae Board of Education.
In Alabama, nearly 75 percent voted against the amendment, according to incomplete, unofficial results.
