Covington County Sheriff’s Deputies captured a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Opp earlier this week.

Early on Thursday, Opp Police were searching for Jacob Charles Lee, who was wanted regarding assault warrants.

Deputies located Lee near Dozier.

OPD said in a release that Lee was located at a family member’s residence and his family called the Sheriff’s office to turn him in.

On March 4, 2020 around 7:54 p.m., Opp Police Department patrol units responded to the 700 block of Virginia Avenue regarding to a person being shot. Upon officer’s arrival, they located a 31-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the lower right leg area. The victim was transported by ambulance to Mizell Memorial Hospital.

The Opp Police Department asked for assistance from the public in locating the shooter, Lee, age 18, of Opp, Alabama who left on foot. Jacob Lee is wanted for Assault 2nd degree.
