If you would have told Florala High School alumnus Avery McNeill that he was going to be back home in his hometown fishing with his dad he wouldn’t have imagined even being able to have the time.

McNeill is one of the many college students that have had to pack his bags and leave without knowing when he would return.

He is a senior at The University of South Alabama and is double majoring in math and philosophy. Instead of receiving his diploma on a stage he will receive it in the mail.

McNeill is also engaged to USA senior Sydney Jones who will be receiving her diploma in the mail due to graduation ceremonies being canceled.

”With everything happening right now we can’t walk at graduation and we don’t know what our honeymoon is going to look like or our wedding that is supposed to be in June,” McNeill said. “It is nice that I have this opportunity to spend time with my family and fish with my dad. Dad has been smoking me. We have been catching bass in Lake Jackson and enjoying the scenery.”
