Cypress Landing plans Memorial Day celebration

With COVID-19 restrictions easing up, Cypress Landing RV Park will have its annual Memorial Day celebration this upcoming weekend.
The event will take place on Sat., May 23, from 10 a.m., until 7 p.m. Their goal is to help take the worry off of the shoulders of the community during the family-friendly holiday celebration.
“Our goal is good, wholesome family fun,” Dolores Moody said.
She wants everyone to come out and spend quality time with friends and family while exploring what the park has to offer. She encourages people to spend time outside, go fishing, and enjoy the lake.
If the weather permits, the event will be held outside. Cornhole, yard jenga, and bicycle racing are some of the outdoor games being offered at the event. There will also be table games such as monopoly for the whole family to enjoy. If needed, the event will be moved inside of the park’s barn. Social distancing will be practiced during the celebration.
“We want to accomplish [social distancing] while still spending time with family and friends. It’s important because the people beside you are still your family and friends,” Moody said. “It’s important to remember even if we aren’t breaking bread together every day.”
Moody believes that this holiday should not be overlooked due to COVID-19. She explains the meaning behind Memorial Day and why it is so important to remember.
“We need to remember the country was built on the backs of men and women. No matter what happens, that hasn’t changed and we need to remember them,” Moody said.
Excited to finally have restrictions lifted in time for the celebration, Moody welcomes the community to join in on the fun.
“We want to invite everyone to enjoy a game of cornhole and have fun, safely.” Moody encourages those interested to bring campers and tents as well. The park has 63 RV sites with full hookup, 2 cabins, and a general store accessible to customers.
The event will be held at Cypress Landing RV Park, 32249 Riverland Dr, Dozier, Alabama 36028 on Sat., May 23, from 10 a.m., until 7 p.m. For more information, call (334) 388-1008.
