Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel are on the scene of a fiery crash involving a commercial motor vehicle and a pickup truck near the Covington-Escambia County line on Hwy. 29.

The incident occurred near the Dixie Fire Department.

Currently, Covington County EMA and the Alabama State Troopers are in route to the scene.

Locals who travel that stretch of highway for work or other purposes are asked to take an alternative route as the highway is shut down and is expected to be until cleanup is complete.

Alabama State Trooper spokesperson Drew Brooks confirmed the crash is one with fatality.

“We ask that residents take an alternate route until the scene has been cleared,” he said.
