Kendra Majors has been named regional publisher of The Andalusia Star-News, The Atmore Advance, and The Brewton Standard and associated print and digital products.

Majors previously served as publisher of The Brewton Standard from January 2018 until June 2019. All three newspapers are affiliates of Boone Newspapers, Inc., headquartered in Tuscaloosa.

She has also worked for other Boone Newspapers’ affiliates including The Luverne Journal, The Lowndes Signal and The Troy Messenger.

A Brantley native, Majors earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism and art from Troy University in May 2008. While at Troy, she served as editor and staff writer of the student newspaper, The Tropolitan, for four years.

She also has experience as a graphic designer, and interned at PowerSouth Energy Cooperative in its corporate communications department.

While in Andalusia, Majors has served on the board of directors of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Covington County Children’s Policy Council. She is a former president of the Andalusia Lions Club, and continues to serve on the Covington Region Honor Flight board as chairperson.

“I am excited about this new role that will allow me to continue to invest in communities that I absolutely love,” Majors said. “ “Being a community journalist is something I embraced years ago, and I understand the importance community journalism plays in communities like Andalusia, Atmore and Brewton. I have had the opportunity to meet some of the best people from all walks of life in all three communities and hope to meet even more of you in the near future. We have a great group of folks working at our newspapers and will continue to give you the best coverage in our print and digital products of the things that are important to you.”
