EFFIE ADAMS LOWMAN

Mrs. Effie Adams Lowman, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Andalusia Manor.  She was born in Opp, Alabama on November 26, 1932 the daughter of the late Mamie Dillard Adams and Clifton Adams.

Effie loved her family, friends, church and community.  She was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother.  Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family.

Effie was a good friend to many, for she was always there to help in a time of need or to celebrate a special occasion.  Active socially, she enjoyed her bridge clubs, traveling with friends, holiday dances, and especially entertaining in her home.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Andalusia.  She was a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years and also served on the Worship Committee.

Mrs. Lowman was active in her community.  She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of several service clubs, and a “Pink Lady” volunteer at the hospital.  A dear friend described Effie’s life as one of serving others, always generous with her time and talents.  She did this cheerfully and graciously.

Effie spent much of her later years tending the family farm with husband Charles in Searight.  Together, they raised vegetables which they gave to family and friends, and their Searight pecans were sent to friends throughout the United States.  The farm also provided Effie and Charles the opportunity to introduce grandchildren to the joys of rural life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles Lowman.  She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nora and Lloyd Culp of Dozier and Ruth and Lance Nail of McAllen, TX; grandchildren, Lauren (Jose) Gonzalez, Landon Nail, and Joel Nail; and great grandson Damien Gonzalez.

Given concerns of COVID-19, there will be a private graveside service.  The family request memorials be made to your charity of your choice.
