The Andalusia Police Department has two suspects in custody who were caught near Andalusia High School after a caller reported seeing two suspects breaking into vehicles.
Alexis Nicole Elmore, a 23-year-old white female of Andalusia, as well as a juvenile male, also of Andalusia, are each charged with two counts of breaking and entering, one count of theft of property second degree, and one count of criminal trespass third degree.
The APD was notified at approximately 1:30 a.m. of a subject riding a white golf cart breaking into vehicles on Hand Avenue.
While responding to Hand Avenue, officers with D shift located two subjects traveling on Ray Street in a white golf cart and wearing the same clothing described by the caller.
Officers detained the suspects, Elmore and a juvenile, and located a handgun and ammunition on the juvenile male that were found to have been taken from a residence on Ray Street, along with other items that had been taken from vehicles on Hand Avenue.
Officers transported both subjects to Andalusia Police Department for questioning by the Criminal Investigations Division, where they were later charged.
Elmore is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $33,000 bond. The juvenile male was transported to a Youth Detention Facility pending court proceedings.
