The Covington County Board of Education made several personnel decisions during its regularly scheduled board meeting on June 29.

During the meeting the board approved:

Transfer:

  • Bailey Erin Sanders Bryan from Elementary Teacher at Pleasant Home School to
    Elementary Teacher at Straughn Elementary School effective at the beginning of
    the school year
  • Tammy Lynn Jones from Lunchroom Worker at Straughn Middle School to
    Assistant Lunchroom Manager at SMS effective at the beginning of the school
    year

Resignation:

  • Victoria Marie Adams as Counselor at Red Level Elementary School retroactive
    to June 22
  • Megan M. Shelnutt as Social Science Teacher at Red Level High School
    retroactive to June 25
  • Angela Parritt Mack as Elementary Teacher at Straughn Elementary School
    retroactive to June 3
  • Gabe Holden Gunter as General Social Science Teacher at Straughn High School
    retroactive to June 7

  • Martha Merle Glisson as Paraprofessional at Pleasant Home School effective at
    the beginning of the school year

In other business:

  • The board adopted the Code of Conduct for the 2021-2022 school year.
  • The board adopted the following school handbooks for the 2021-2022 school year
    in draft form: FJHS; FHS; RLS; SES; SMS; SHS; and WSH.
  • The board renewed the contract for Shannon Driver as Superintendent of Covington County Schools effective July 1.
  • The board adopted salary schedules for the new school year effective July 1.
  • The board approved to offer a contract to the following for TEAMS (Teacher Excellence and Accountability for Mathematics and Science) Teacher Positions. Upon execution of contract, position will be effective at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
