American Legion Ladies Authority sponsor local Girls State students

The American Legion Ladies Authority, Unit 80, in Andalusia, sponsored eight scholarships to eight local students to attend Girls State.
This year’s event took place from June 6 to June 11 and was held at the University of Alabama.
These outstanding juniors and seniors from each high school in the county were selected to learn and participate in a weeklong “laboratory of practical government, policies, and citizenship.”
Those eight students are as follows: Taylor Carnley of Opp High School, Ruby Carroll of Red Level High School, Callie Carter of Straughn High School, Katherine Day of Andalusia High School, Kadance Jackson of Florala High School, Hannah Peavy of RLHS, Lexi Straughon of Pleasant Home School, and Pippin Turman of OHS.
