The Andalusia Star-News welcomes Zack Maio to its staff as a Staff Writer.
Maio is a native of Andalusia and graduated from Straughn High School in 2005. He attended The University of West Alabama where he earned two degrees in education.
After briefly teaching fourth grade, he discovered writing in 2011 and served as a volunteer sports reporter at his alma mater for 10 years.
“I am beyond blessed to have been given this opportunity to bring my work from Straughn to a larger audience. I could not be happier to develop great stories for all the communities we serve,” Maio said.
While tackling news and other stories will be an adjustment, Zack feels he is ready for the challenge.
“This is not really a new job for me but more of a passion. With the skills I have, anything is possible and I am eager to learn as much as I can,” he said.
Maio joined the Star-News in June.
“We are very excited to have Zack as a part of our Star-News team. His excitement to tell the stories of Covington County are evident and I’m confident he will help the local newspaper in its goal of creating interesting and timely content,” said Star-News Publisher Robert Blankenship.
