ASWA releases 2021 football preseason poll

The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its football preseason rankings this week, and three Covington County teams are represented.
First-place votes, last year’s record, total poll points, and position in last year’s final poll were taken into consideration to rank teams statewide. Opp checked in at number 10 in Class 3A while Andalusia and Florala both received votes in Class 5A and Class 1A, respectively.

Andalusia and Opp open the regular season Friday, August 20 on the road. The Bulldogs will visit Faith Academy, ranked number 2 in the preseason poll, while the Bobcats travel to Geneva. Florala is scheduled to host Zion Chapel in a preseason game that will not count toward the team’s final record.
