CCBOE handles personnel items during meeting

The Covington County Schools Board of Education met to discuss a number of matters Tuesday, August 31.

The board granted a medical leave of absence with benefits under the Family Medical Leave Act to Kelly M. Goolsby, Bus Driver at Fleeta Junior High School until Oct. 12, 2021.

The board approved a transfer for Robin M. Thompson from Bookkeeper at Red Level School to Secretary at Central Office with the effective date to be determined.

The board executed preliminary Tests of Engineering, Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science contracts retroactive to August 9 to the following: Stephen Edwin Bowen, Hollie Willingham Carter, Chelsea Powell Farley, Shanda Osborn Gordon, Angelia Taylor Holliday, Lori Miller Kinsaul, Brianna Thames Leitschuck, Jennifer Foley Lindsey, Stacy Tillman McLaurin, Ramona Clackler Thomas, Andrea Nicole Weeks, Melissa Thomas Windham, Elizabeth Jordan Wood, and Ronald Anthoney Yates, Jr.

In other business:

  • The board sought permission to bid on a fire alarm system for Pleasant Home School.
  • The board sought permission to bid on reroofing of the W.S. Harlan Elementary Gym.
  • The board sought permission to bid on a gymnasium HVAC system at Florala High School.
  • The board granted permission for the Superintendent to enter into a contract with McKee and Associates to develop plans for an auditorium and classroom addition at Straughn School.

The board set the next meeting date for Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Central Office.
