After a rough last-second loss, Pleasant Home (1-6, 1-4 1A Region 1) gets set to visit Kinston (5-3, 3-2) Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

The Eagles gave a valiant effort last week but came up just short to Florala, 19-12. The Bulldogs fell on the road at McKenzie, 26-15.

Head Coach Jeremy Silcox said Florala played a great game, and PHS fought hard in the setback. “I feel like our guys left nothing on the field, and it hurts to not come out on the winning side.”

The task at hand this week will not come easy, according to Silcox. “Kinston is a very disciplined, physical team. They love to run the ball and play great defense,” he said.

Despite falling in five straight, the Eagles are maintaining a positive attitude.

“It may not show in the win column, but we are really growing as a team and must continue the process. We still have a lot of big games ahead and must stay focused,” Silcox said.

The Eagles and Bulldogs first met in 2000 and collide for the 22nd straight year. PHS leads the series 11-10 and has a slight edge in scoring, 437-429.

The 2020 contest was a defensive struggle as Pleasant Home edged Kinston, 7-0.
