Beginning Monday, Nov. 15, at approximately 10 a.m., the culvert over Gin Creek will be open and the bridge over Lightwood Knot Creek will be closed.

A detour remains in place while the bridge is being replaced at its current location. The official signed detour begins south of Brantley onto Alabama Highway 141 to U.S. Highway 84 and back to U.S. Highway 331, north of Opp, with the northbound detour being reversed.

The Frank Jackson State Park will now be accessible from the south side while the bridge is closed. U.S. Highway 331 remains accessible by local traffic, except at the location of the closure.

The culvert and bridge replacement project began in July 2021. In August, a new traffic pattern was utilized to work on the bridge and culvert simultaneously in order to expedite the bridge replacement and minimize the overall construction and detour time.
