The Pleasant Home School Future Farmers of America (FFA) will have their yearly strawberry sale again in 2022.

Southern Heritage has provided PHS with fresh strawberries direct from the growers to buyers in flats, which will cost $20.00 each. Strawberries will arrive the second or third week of March. The strawberries will be packed eight one-quart packages per flat in plastic clamshell containers. Strawberries are very perishable and must be kept refrigerated. The deadline to place an order is Wednesday, Feb. 23.

This is the seventh year Pleasant Home has partnered with Southern Heritage.

“The strawberries are grown in Plant City, Florida, by one single farmer. That’s what makes them a little different and not the same as you would buy at Walmart or other grocery retailers. A lot of buyers say they freeze well and do not lose that taste when they are frozen. I’m not much of a strawberry person, but these taste good and are really sweet. We also have a good relationship with the owner, who helps by putting money back into the schools,” FFA Sponsor Karen Castleberry said.

The proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward equipment, perishables, and upgrades for the FFA. “We use the funds we collect to purchase nails and screws but have purchased a set of classroom chairs in the past. We also use the money we make to help our students at their leadership competitions,” Castleberry added.
