Sharae Coleman received some exciting news on Thursday, Jan. 27 she was invited to compete at the South Eastern Select Women’s All-Star Game this spring.

“I’m excited to be a part of the South Eastern Select Women’s All-Star Game. I’m very happy I can showcase all of my skills, abilities, and all the hard work I put into this game. I look forward to playing at the competition and representing Florala,” Coleman said.

The first annual event is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, and will be held at Enterprise State Community College. The SESWAG is an all-day event put together by Iso League to recognize the top 20 to 24 girls compiling talent from Troy to the Florida Panhandle and everywhere in between. All girls who have completed their sophomore season are eligible to play. There are no limits on how many times a player can be selected during their high school career.

A senior at Florala High School, she plays point guard and shooting guard for the Lady Wildcats.

“We have all had a few issues and fought through them. As a result, we have become closer as a team, and I’m happy to lead the team. My teammates really look up to me, and I just want to do my best when I take the court. They support me every time anywhere, so I’m pretty sure they will come see me and watch me give it my best,” she said.

Coleman played in all 27 regular-season games this year for FHS. She averaged a double-double with 21.3 points per game, 11.6 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game, 4.4 steals per game, and 0.4 blocks per game. She achieved a season-high 34 points twice in games played Thursday, Jan. 27 at Pleasant Home and Tuesday, Feb. 1 against Geneva at home.

“Sharae is a great kid as a leader on the court and in the classroom as a 4.0 student. She has been a big part of our success throughout her career and is currently 71 points away from 2,000 points in four years. She has played a vital role for our team this season. It was no surprise Sharae was selected to play in the All-Star event because she loves the game, and her stats are proof of that. She brings the ability to score and rebound for the team with top-notch leadership. She recently received her first offer and should have many more to come. She has dominated the stat line in every category this season and continues to get better night in and night out. Sharae has a very bright academic and basketball future ahead,” Head Basketball Coach David Bass said.

She is the daughter of Arthur Ray and Sharika Coleman with three siblings: Diamond, Jayna, and Javon.
