The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition (LAAC) in downtown Andalusia is inviting youth in grades Pre-K through 12 to be featured artists in a “Blooming Young Artists” art show in April.

“This is not a competition. It is an art gallery display to showcase our amazing young artists in Covington County,” a LAAC statement said.

Requirements for entry are as follows:

  • Artworks can be any style and theme of the artist’s choice, but all art must be family friendly.
  • All art must be 8.5×11, which is standard copy paper size.
  • Any paper type and art medium (paint, markers, chalk, etc.) is acceptable.
  • No 3-D art will be permitted because all art will be framed for hanging.

The entry fee is $20 per piece of artwork. All art and entry fees must be turned in to the LAAC by Monday, March 21.

The entry fee includes framing of the art by the LAAC, featured artist status for all participants at our Art Reception on Thursday, April 7, and one month of art display in the downtown gallery.

“The framed art will be available for you to retrieve and keep after the April display from April 25-29.”

The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition is located at 209 East Three Notch Street. For more information email laacartscenter@gmail.com or call 334-222-3205.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Follow us on Facebook for info on art classes ages five to adult. Come see amazing artworks, sign up for a class, or shop for a gift. Walk-ins are always welcomed at the LAAC,” the statement said.
