The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition will present a show in June to celebrate Pride and Diversity in Covington County starting with a reception on June 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

“Many things that make us a diverse and unique community are not readily observed but include our religion, occupation, and sexual orientation, as well as emotional, physical, and mental differences,” stated a LAAC press release about the event.

“This show is to highlight the creative spirit of our diverse community in artistic ways. Art is just as diverse and is not limited to painting and drawing; poems, photographs, and sculptures are just as creative and powerful.

“This is a time and place to express feelings, hopes, fears, and experiences. Diversity is all around us, let us celebrate it with grace and dignity.”

Participants should have artwork at the LAAC between May 25 and June 1, ready to hang or show-ready.

The LAAC retains 20 percent of all sales to help fund its outreach programs. For questions or more information, contact the LAAC at 334-222-3205 or laacartscenter@gmail.com.
