CDG, Inc. has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s leading design firms by Engineering News-Record (ENR). The firm earned spot No. 461 on this year’s ENR Top 500 Design Firms list, solidifying CDG’s appearance on the nationally recognized list for the fourth year in a row.

CDG President & CEO Mark Pugh said the achievement is a result of the team’s diligence and commitment to excellence.

“For more than 75 years, our team has worked tirelessly to support tens of thousands of projects across the Southeast,” Pugh said. “This hard work has allowed CDG the privilege of helping our clients to generate a legacy worth celebrating while setting us apart as one of the most successful firms in the country.”

One of the firm’s most significant projects in 2021 was the completion of Iron Mountain Road in Anniston, Alabama. The roadway provides a direct route from US-431 and Alabama Highway 21 and provides access to thousands of acres of land for future development. CDG provided funding procurement services, roadway design services, surveying, environmental coordination, geotechnical design, and construction engineering and inspection.

CDG Chief Strategy Officer Scott Trott credits the success of this project and others to the cohesive work of the firm’s practices and the project teams involved.

“2021 was a year where diverse project teams worked together to reach important outcomes, and Iron Mountain Road was no exception,” Trott said. “From securing funding to solving environmental concerns and project construction oversight, vibrant teams came together to take action and reach success in this project and others.”

CDG also worked substantially in the private sector, playing a pivotal role in site development projects across the Southeast, including constructing a state-of-the-art correctional facility. The Pike County complex includes a 175-bed housing unit, buildings for the County court system, administration offices for the Sheriff’s office and consolidated emergency dispatch offices. CDG provided geotechnical evaluation and design, civil/site design, grading, stormwater design, utility design and permitting for the $40 million project.

In the petroleum market, CDG continued to supply the resources necessary to provide 24-hour emergency response support, remediation and management for fueling station owners. These services assisted in minimizing environmental impact across the state of Alabama and allowed business owners to continue their operations quickly and safely.

These projects contributed to another exceptional year for the firm.

“2021 was another outstanding year for CDG. We are grateful to continue to guide our clients throughout each of their projects,” Pugh said. “It is an honor to continue to help driven leaders of communities, businesses and industries build the future.”
