American Legion Post 80 of Andalusia gave out five scholarships and sent seven local boys to Boys State.
“We are proud to announce that the American Legion was able to do this for these boys. The money for the Legion comes from our Bingo fund from sales of Bingo,” said Post 80 member James Grissett.
Scholarships were awarded to Mary Faith Mitchell of Andalusia, Chasey Lain Sanders and Ruby Marie Carroll of Red Level, Robert H. Smithart of Opp, and Jamisyn Nicole Wright of Straughn.
Students who attended Boys State this summer were Joshua Z. Weeks and Caleb Bundy of Florala High School; Taj N. Patel of Straughn High School; Joseph A. Griffin and Ty B. Clark of Pleasant Home School; Jacob H. Parker and Nathan L. Schellenber of Red Level School.
Bingo is held Tuesdays and Thursday with early bird at 4:30 p.m. and regular bingo at 6 p.m. “In order for us to help our veterans and families as our students, we need prayers on these days.”
All our proceeds go to veterans and helping our children in the community.
“We have given out over $1 million to local school children and need prayers to continue this service. Please stop by and play a few games,” Grissett said.
American Legion Post 80 is located at 11852 East Three Notch Street in Andalusia.
