The Old Three Notch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was busy in Sunday afternoon’s heat installing 1,209 American flags on the lawn of Andalusia City Hall.
Their effort coincides with this week’s arrival of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, and the flags represent the number of Alabama men and women who died in Vietnam.
A few years ago, the DAR led the effort to get our fire hydrants painted red, white, and blue. The DAR also coordinates the City of Andalusia’s Fourth of July parade every year.
Thanks to the DAR for the beautiful but solemn reminder that freedom isn’t free and for all of the good work you do for our community.
