T-Mobile will host a free summer switcher event for residents of Covington County on Friday, July 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bury the Hatchet in Andalusia.

“I’m trying to invite the community to something fun. We all thought we were going to die over the past two years with this virus, and everybody is on eggshells. The switcher event is to get the word out to the community what T-Mobile is about and how we are trying to expand as we grow here. We actually hold the record for the most activations on opening day, grand opening, and soft opening. We are trying to help out the community by throwing something fun. For those that are AT&T, Verizon, Cricket, and Straight Talk paying an ungodly amount for phone services a month, we have it a lot cheaper with better service,” T-Mobile Store Manager Brandon Vierling said.

He added that it would be a fun event for the local community. “We will have ages from young to old. I went to Bury the Hatchet the other day and saw Mr. Posey, a Ping-Pong legend. He was up there having a ball, and our event will be for all age groups.”

Vierling is looking forward to seeing people attend the event.

“You probably have friends you haven’t seen in two or three years. Maybe you can rekindle that fire with them again. I just want to bring the atmosphere to people again and give them something fun. It won’t cost anybody anything to throw an axe, and we’re giving food. The first 100 people there will receive a T-Mobile gift bag loaded down with all kinds of cool stuff. The ones who activate will also get put into another raffle with AirPods, Big Mike’s Steakhouse cards, and all kinds of cool stuff. There are all kinds of perks for those rather than coming to the store. It’s all about the atmosphere,” he said.

T-Mobile is located at 100 Westgate Plaza and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. Bury the Hatchet is located at 1219 MLK Jr. Expressway next to King Buffet. For more information call T-Mobile at 334-923-4506.
