Pleasant Home (0-0) will begin the 2022 football season with a first-time opponent and host A.L. Johnson (0-0) on Friday, August 19, at 7 p.m.

“We have had a good couple of weeks of practice so far. As a coach, I think you are never fully satisfied with your team’s performance and always see ways you could be better. There have been some bright spots, but we also have plenty of ways to improve. Overall, I like our effort and commitment but want to see more focus and execution as we move forward,” PHS Head Coach Cody Sellers said.

Sellers added that he does not know much about A.L. Johnson. “I believe they will have some speed, which always presents issues. I know like us, they will want to get their program turned around and start the season with a win to gain momentum. I believe it will be a battle of wills and whichever team can execute consistently will have the advantage.”

The Eagles look forward to playing in front of their home crowd.

“You never really know what you have until those Friday night lights turn on and are going full speed against another team. I am excited to see the progress we have made and get a measuring stick for where we are in our journey towards improvement. I want our team to play with passion, class, and intelligence. Those are the characteristics I want to stand out for our team on Friday. Overall, I hope to see the improvement from what we saw on the field in the spring to know we are moving in the right direction,” he said.

Pleasant Home finished the 2021 season with a 1-9 record, while A.L. Johnson went 0-9.
