The Full Tummy Project of Covington County is looking for golfers in teams of four at the Eighth Annual Charity Golf Classic on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Andalusia Country Club.

The team fee for a four-person scramble is $500, and the cost for a hole sponsorship is $100. There are also food and beverage sponsorships available as well as opportunities for donations and prizes at the event. All sponsors will receive recognition in printed materials and media coverage; sponsorships must be received by Monday, Sept. 26.

Lunch will be served at noon prior to tee time at 1 p.m. A family awards reception will follow the event. All donations and expenses made for the event are tax-deductible.

The Full Tummy Project is a 501(c)3 organization that is designed to provide a small bag of food on Fridays for children in local schools who are at risk for hunger on the weekends. Children who qualify are determined by the school’s administration and their identities are kept confidential. Nutritious breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items are discreetly placed in the child’s backpack each Friday.

Since Full Tummy started in early 2014, the number of students served has risen from 40 to 350. Children at seven elementary schools in Covington County (Andalusia, Opp, Pleasant Home, Straughn, Red Level, W.S. Harlan, Fleeta, and Head Start) receive meals.
