Opp, Straughn win regular season finales; Red Level falls

Opp and Straughn closed the region schedule with region wins on the road Thursday, Oct. 27, in their regular season finales while Red Level ended its season with a loss to Samson, 38-24.
The Bobcats (8-2, 7-1 3A Region 2) defeated Ashford, 20-6. The Tigers (7-3, 6-2) took down Providence Christian, 19-7.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs next week. Opp, the second seed in the region, will host W.S. Neal. Straughn, the third seed, will make a trip to Thomasville. Both games are currently scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
Red Level (4-6, 4-4 1A Region 2) fell behind early against Samson. After falling behind 31-0 in the first half, Red Level cut that lead to 31-16. Samson tacked on another touchdown in the third while Red Level rounded out the scoring with a touchdown in the fourth.
Andalusia (9-1) had a bye week and looks to host Jackson (8-2) in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs next week.
