Marty Robbins Roofing Co. this week began the first of four roofing projects on buildings owned by the City of Andalusia.

Work began at the Andalusia Farmers Market, located at 256 Historic Central Street, Thursday morning. Other buildings getting new roofs as part of this project include the Andalusia Police Department, and historic buildings acquired by the City in 2020 at 206-210 South Cotton Street and 222 South Cotton Street. New roofs are the first step in moving toward redevelopment partnerships for the South Cotton Street structures.

The Andalusia City Council accepted Marty Robbins Roofing Co.’s low bid of $434,675 for the projects in September of 2022. A portion of the funds, $162,085, will be appropriated from a 2022 Series A. Bond Issues, and the remaining $272,590 will come from the City’s capital improvement fund.
