The Covington County Board of Education approved eight personnel matters and fiscal year 2023 budget amendment #1 at a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Feb. 7.

During the meeting the board approved:

Retirement:

• Julie O. Windham as elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School effective May 26

Resignation:

• Michelle Sharon as special education teacher at Straughn Middle School retroactive to Jan. 31
• Paula L. Simpson as English language arts teacher at SMS retroactive to Jan. 31
• Cindy Ann Meadows as custodian at SMS retroactive to Jan. 31
• Samantha Norris as staff assistant at W.S. Harlan Elementary School effective March 24

Employment:

• Rhonda Mosley as English language arts teacher at SMS effective immediately, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
• Jessica Stelle as paraprofessional at SMS effective immediately, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
• Caroline Carter as paraprofessional at SMS effective immediately, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

The board set the next meeting date for Tuesday, March 7, 5:30 p.m., at the central office.
