The Andalusia Office Professionals Association takes pride in benefiting the local community, and one of those ways is a raffle fundraiser to raise funds for scholarships.

Tickets are $1 each for a chance to win $200 and may be purchased from any AOPA member or Mellisa King at SanBuck Insurance. Tickets will be available for purchase until Sunday, April 9.

“The AOPA strives to help others in our community as much as possible. We feel that making contributions to others’ education is an essential way to give back and help others grow to their full potential. I am honestly not sure how far the raffle fundraiser goes back in our history, but it is a long-standing tradition successful tradition of raising funds for scholarships,” AOPA President Camaro King said.

Adults who are currently employed full-time in a business-related field and are pursuing an education in a professional field of study are eligible. Scholarship applications may be obtained by emailing wanda.woods@powersouth.com. Scholarships will be awarded to recipients at the July meeting.

One raffle winner will be selected through a drawing held at the Thursday, May 4 meeting and announced on the AOPA Facebook page. All other proceeds go directly into the organization’s scholarship fund.

“Our members are the key to our success. Everyone pitches in with the goal to sell at least 50 tickets. Many of our members go above and beyond by selling more than 50. Mellisa recently made a Facebook post about ticket sales and has been very successful accepting payments through Venmo and PayPal.”

King expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help with the cause and stated they have a goal to sell at least 2,800 tickets.

“As a previous recipient of the AOPA scholarship, it is an honor to be able to pay it forward. Going back to school while working full-time is a tough task. To be able to help another adult in the same situation is very gratifying. If we reach our goal, it would allow us to give more back to our scholarship recipients.”

The Andalusia Office Professionals Association holds its monthly meetings at noon on the first Thursday of each month at Tabby D’s.

Individuals who are interested in joining the organization may contact King at camaro.king@powersouth.com, 334-488-3785, or reach out to any other member.

“We welcome any person employed in an administrative support position in a business or office in Covington County and are thankful to the community for their continued support of AOPA,” she said.
