Dudley Cephus Maddox, 76, of the Red Oak community, passed away peacefully at William F. Green State Veterans Home on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Florala. The funeral services will be Thursday, April 6, at Red Oak Baptist Church, with visitation at 2 p.m. and funeral at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Maddox is preceded in death by his parents, J. C. and Evelyn “Dixie” Maddox; his sister and brother-in-law, Willene and Tobe Kelley; brother-in-law, Charles Rogers; niece, Charlotte Rogers; and grandson, Cody Maddox.
Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife of 56 years, Quennie Redmon Maddox of the Red Oak community; sons and daughters-in-law, Stacey (Mary) of Panama City, Florida; Kevin (Christine) of Dothan; Jason (Cristina) of Pensacola; and Jonathan (Hallie) of Stapleton, Alabama; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Maddox (Alice); sister, Annette Rogers, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Maddox served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force and USAF Reserve for 26 years and is a Vietnam veteran. He retired from civil service with a total of 32 years of loyal service. Dudley was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and led music for many years. Following his retirement, he served as a member of the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as chief for over nine years.
Dudley loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and loved to worship Him through song. He enjoyed fishing with his boys, camping, gardening, feeding the birds, but especially spending time with his grands and great-grands.
A very special thanks to the staffs of William F. Green State Veterans Home and Community Hospice of Baldwin County for their loving and compassionate care and support, especially in Dudley’s last days.
